Jody Sperling/Time Lapse Dance returns to the stage for the first time in two years! This new ecologically-themed program deepens the collaboration between choreographer Jody Sperling and composer Matthew Burtner—both acclaimed for their artistic engagement with climate change. The program showcases the company’s brilliant all-women dance ensemble along with Burtner’s live musical performances.
Featured works include: the stage premiere of Plastic Harvest, exploring the proliferation of plastic pollution; a reprisal of Wind Rose (“hypnotic,” World Policy Institute), which renders changing atmospheric patterns palpable to sight, sound, and touch; and an excerpt from American Elm (“breathtaking,” Dance Enthusiast), considering the relationship between trees and people.
The Thursday, May 5 opening night gala features a full performance followed by a special benefit reception and conversation with the artists.
